I used to follow a basic mantra: Do what the SEO rules say. Keywords need search volume X, titles must remain under length Y, meta descriptions should stick to Z. Those rules dominated early conversations in my SEO learning curve. But results didn’t line up with all that theory. Keywords without any measurable volume drove unexpected traffic, while meticulously crafted content refused to rank. Then there was that surreal experience of having a half-published article rank on the first page. Literally, just a headline and FAQs. The rest of the article didn’t get published due to a glitch. Yet the article ranked.

That’s when patterns started emerging. Rankings didn’t hinge on technical perfection but rather on contextual relevance on top of the topical authority. As a (super geeky) linguist turned (even more geeky) entrepreneur, the concept of topical authority clicked with me in a way no hack or checklist ever could. This led me to sift through a sea of content and identify the few people who genuinely “get it.”
